Artists
This part of the site profiles most of the artists included Art Practice as Research. Throughout the text, examples of their work are discussed in relation to ideas covered in the chapters. The artworks and commentary are presented in sidebar portals, which open up issues for further discussion. The on-line versions encourage readers to re-visit and reconstruct their own reactions. Questions about historical contexts, research traditions, theoretical quibbles, comparative critiques, or more practical guidelines for conducting visual arts research should open up different ways of responding to the work of the participating artists. Providing several points of entry throughout the book where the reader can absorb pockets of material and talk-back to the ideas the artists reveal can be extended on-line where the more engaging versions of the artworks can be encountered allowing other ways to look-back and see things anew. The sidebar images and texts are reproduced here, as well as excerpts from the chapters that give a context describing how the artists’ work is referenced.
